Our History

Founded in 1950 by Frank Martin and his nephew Sam Martin, Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home is now the oldest established funeral home in the city of Oak Ridge. The Martin name was already well established and respected in the funeral industry having founded their first Martin Funeral Home in Lake City, Tennessee in 1926 and then the Martin Funeral Home in Clinton, Tennessee in 1946. The Martin family served the residents of Oak Ridge and Anderson County until 1987 when the funeral home was sold following the death of Sam Martin in August of 1986.

Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home is now independently owned and family operated and it is our desire to continue to provide the highest level of services with dignity and respect to the families of Oak Ridge and surrounding areas. Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home is a full service funeral establishment serving all faiths and nationalities, offering traditional funeral services, cremation services and advanced funeral planning. Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home provides the families we serve the opportunity to fully personalize their services allowing them to honor the life of their loved one.


Our Valued Staff

Anthony (Tony) W. South

Anthony (Tony) W. South, Manager, Licensed Funeral Director,

A graduate of John A. Gupton Mortuary College in Nashville, Tennessee,Tony moved to Oak Ridge and joined the staff of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home in 2012, after working the the funeral industry in Nashville for 18 years. Tony is on the Board of Directors of the Oak Ridge Lions Club, a licensed minister and member of High Places Community Church of Oak Ridge a member of Oak Ridge noon Rotary Club and also serves on the Board of Directors with the Oak Ridge Playhouse Community Theatre. Tony is credentialed in crematory operations, as a certified cremation arranger and crematory operator. He is also an active member of the John A. Gupton Alumni Association, and active in the Tennessee Funeral Director Association, where he serves on the convention planning committee and is co-chairman of the silent and live auctions


Ellis C. Galyon

Ellis C. Galyon, Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer

Ellis C. Galyon, licensed funeral director and embalmer, a graduate of John A. Gupton Mortuary College with over 50 years of funeral service experience.


Larry T. Dodd

Larry T. Dodd, Family Service Counselor

Larry has been a resident of Oak Ridge since 2011 joining our staff in 2015. He has more than 15 years experience in Cemetery and Pre-Need Funeral Sales. we are proud to have Larry on our team as Family Service Counselor.
